Austrlian telecommunications company Telstra may have inadvertantly exposed millions of customer's data on its webpage, according to The Australian. The Privacy Commissioner has decided to investigate this event to determine the cause and potential damage to citizens.

Canadian PIPEDA guidance released (8/17/11)

US-NIST releases privacy control draft (7/19/11)
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announces the initial public draft of Special Publication 800-53, Appendix J, Privacy Control Catalog. One of the main objectives is to provide a structured set of privacy controls, based on international standards and best practices, that help organizations enforce requirements deriving from federal privacy legislation, policies, regulations, directives, standards, and guidance.  Read more at NIST's page.

EU investigating Financial Industry Breach Notification (6/20/11)
